Target Field : Grand Opening

On April 3, 2010, members of the AMSYSCO team attended the grand opening of Target Field, the new home for the Minnesota Twins baseball team.  Target Field is an open-air stadium located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The U.S. Green Building Council awarded Target Field LEED Silver Certification on April 8, 2010 – making it the second MLB ballpark to gain LEED certification.

Target Field has post-tensioning strands in the structural girders which support the main concourse, club level, suite level, terrace level, and bleacher seating areas.  The Mezzanine area has a flat-plate post-tension tendon system to support heavy-loading.  In total, the ballpark has almost 200 Tons of post-tensioning material supplier by AMSYSCO, Inc.  The architect of Target Field was Populous/HOK Sports and the structural engineering firm was Walter P. Moore Engineers.

Pre-game events included a Parade of construction team members on the baseball field.  Members of M.A. Mortenson Construction and its subcontractors/suppliers also sang the national anthem, held the United States flag and sang  the 7th inning stretch.  Tickets for the construction team were graciously donated by the Pohlad Family, owners of the Minnesota Twins.

Final Score:  Minnesota Twins 8 – St. Louis Cardinals 3 (exhibition game)

Opening Day is April 12th, 2010 against the Boston Red Sox.
